CASology #343 Color

Hi there!

Welcome to my post for the CASology challenge this week. The cue word is color!!

Week 343 - Color

Here’s my take:

1.JPG

I use the dies from the MFT once upon a rainbow die set to cut out the rainbow and clouds

2.JPG

I then inked the rainbow and the clouds with distress inks and added the sentiment with black ink

3

I guess the color on the rainbow was not enough for me, i added some to the sentiment as well and finished the card by added glossy accents over the word colorful.

Now it’s your turn to add some color !

I hope my card inspires you to join us at CASology and gets you to crafting. Do  play along with us, just remember to keep it CAS. The following CAS guidelines should be of help when creating your design:

  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

CASology #342 Mother

Hi there!

Welcome to my post for the CASology challenge this week. Mother’s day is this week end and we have the perfect cue word to get you ready with you Mother’s day cards.

Week 342 - Mother.jpg

Here’s my take:

XRSM8005.JPG

For this card i first stamped this gorgeous butterfly by Tubby Crafts with alcohol marker friendly ink (you can use Memento Tuxedo Black or Tubby Crafty Jet Black) on a white card stock (Use an alcohol marker firendly card stock like Nennah Solar White).

WNXS0756.JPG

I then colored the image with copic markers and then fussy cut the image leaving a whtite background all around. I then cut two die cuts from the letter “M” using the bold Alphabet dies by Die cuts and more. I also die cut two “M”s out of a craft sheet and then adhered to the paper die cuts.

LCYB1481.JPG

On a card front which I die cut using wonky rectangle die by Avery elle, I adhered both the die cuts of the letter “M” which already had the foam cuts underneath. And in middle of both the letters I adhered the butterfly with foam squares to match the dimention. I lifted the wings of the butterfly for added interest and more dimenson.

LHER2296.JPG

I then added the “i love you ‘ sentiement by MFT Stamps in black to finish the card before adhering it to a card base.

Now it’s your turn to jump into action!

I hope my card inspires you to join us at CASology and gets you to crafting. Do  play along with us, just remember to keep it CAS. The following CAS guidelines should be of help when creating your design:

Hello There!

IMG_20181002_195912_Bokeh__01.jpg

I just got time to play with these lovely birds stamps by MFT that I had gotten a while ago. My card is inspired by the sketch challenge by MFT.

To make this card first inked a stripe of white card stock with distress inks. I then applied some embossing paste with a stencil to create a bit of interest on the inked panel. For the focal point I stamped and colored the image with copic colors. I added a googly eye and glossy accents on the beak and flowers.

IMG_20181002_200235__01__01.jpg

To finish the card i added the sentiment from the same stampset on black die cut stripe with white embossing powder.

AAACards #124 Imagine

Hello There ! Happy Sunday!

I think i read somewhere that Albert Einstein once said : “Logic will take you from point A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere!”

It’s time for out next challenge and the theme is one of my most favorite words – “Imagine”

#124.jpg

Here’s my take, I imagined a fantasy land of mystic and mythical beings up in the sky. By the way, i am a huge fan of the magical world of harry potter and this card was made when my son and i were reading the book – “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. Sometimes i wish there were a magical land of crafting and scraps were the money. I would be super rich because i have 3 HUGE bins of scraps (Ok, i just realized while writing this blog that i am hoarding scraps…. Who hoards scarps??). Here’s my card…

IMG_4548

img_e4561-e1537069700944.jpgTo make this card I first stamped the images from the  Mythical creatures stamp set by lawn fawn on to Nenah Solar white card stock (Copic friendly paper) with  memento tuxedo black ink (Copic friendly ink) and colored with copics (you may use any alcohol markers). I then fussy cut the images with a scissors. To create the scene in the sky, i also die cut a few clouds from white card stock.

To complete the card I went with some soft ink blending for the sky and then adhered all the elements before i finally stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set. I then adhere the whole panel to a black card base.

AAA Cards- Somewhere over the Rainbow

Hello There!

Happy Sunday and I am so glad your joining me today for the next AAA Cards Challenge!

“Someday, I wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top
That’s where you’ll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dare to
Oh why, oh why can’t I?”
I am from India and we burst out into songs just like that.. Bollywood style …Lol!!

The theme this fortnight is … yup you got that right… Somewhere over the rainbow”

AAACards Rainbow.PNG

There is something magical about a rainbow and i wanted to capture that in my card. Here’s my take:

bharati nayudu Rainbow unicorn CAS Card with avery elle stamps for AAA Cards.jpg

For my card I first stamped these adorable image of the rainbow with clouds and unicorn from the ‘Be a Unicorn’ stampset by Avery Elle on to nenah solar white cardstock (Copic friendly paper) with black memento ink (Copic friendly ink) and colored with copics lovely rainbow colors. I then die cut the images with the coordinating dies.

bharati nayudu Rainbow2 unicorn CAS Card with avery elle stamps for AAA Cards.jpgI then die cut two windows in a white card front and stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set. I ink blended a panel with distress inks in such a way that they form the background for the window openings, which i adhered to the card front with foam tape for dimension.

I finally adhered the colored images with foam squared inside the windows. As a finishing touch I added two hearts near the sentiment. I then adhered the whole panel to a white card base.

In case of my card, using the windows helped my maximize the empty space for a CAS look. I love the burst of colors against the white. That’s, i think, is the best part of rainbow theme with a CAS design.

I hope my cards inspires you to play along AAA Cards challenge and gets you crafting to make some handmade happiness for your loved ones. Just remember to KEEP IT CAS (Clean And Simple).

AAA Cards #118 Frames

Hello There !

Happy Sunday and i am so glad your joining me today for the next AAA Cards Challenge!

The theme this time is FRAMES.

IMG_1684

Isn’t it just perfect to inspire a Clean and Simple design. Here are a few ideas to help you start – frame your focal point using die cuts, stamping around the focal point, use the stamp of a frame, stamp your sentiment inside a frame, create a scene inside a window or frame your image with the sentiment. Whatever be the technique you use, keeping the design framed and contained will surely enhance the CAS look and maximize the white space. So join us with your creative take on the theme FRAMES.

Here’s my take on the challenge:

Bharati Nayudu Lawn Fawn stamps Frames and seasons tweetings AAA Cards CAS Cards.jpg

Bharati Nayudu Lawn Fawn stamps Frames and seasons tweetings AAA Cards CAS CardFor my card I first stamped and colored this adorable frame from the Flirty frames stamp set by Lawn Fawn. Then I stamped the tiny branch and the cute lil birdie from the Season’s Tweetings stamp set by Lawn Fawn. This sweet lil bird reminded me of one of my favorite childhood cartoon characters – Tweety. So I colored it yellow and gave it a blue cap. I wanted to make the branch appear as if it was somewhere high and so I masked the bird and the branch to ink a few clouds in the background of the frame. I finished the card by stamping a few pretty flowers and the sentiment in scripty font from the Flirty frames stamp set by Lawn Fawn.

I hope my cards inspires you to play along AAA Cards challenge and gets you crafting to make some handmade happiness for your loved ones. Just remember to KEEP IT CAS (Clean And Simple).

Happy New You!

Bharati nayudu_alcohol inks_ butterfly new you handmade card 1 (2)

Hello There!

Butterflies have always fascinated me. I fondly cherish my childhood memories of happily running after butterflies in the parks, being completely mesmerized to watch them land on flowers and spread their colorful wings. I was completely awe stuck when i learnt for the first time as a child that caterpillars turned into beautiful butterflies. How did those pretty wings mysteriously appear, i would ask myself! Well, that’s the magic of self transformation, isn’t it.

Bharati nayudu_alcohol inks_ butterfly new you handmade card 1 (3)

I am on one of my own metamorphic journeys as well. I have always been on the chubby side since childhood, which later grow into obesity, and now this seems to be weighing me down in life, even effecting me mentally. I have pledged to change this and am working towards a healthier me.  One day i too will fly 🙂

I am dedicating this card to all those who are on their journey towards a happier you! A shout out for all the efforts and struggles. For bouncing back after every failure.

Bharati nayudu_alcohol inks_ butterfly new you handmade card 1

And now let me tell you about my card.

Its a new year and i wanted to try something new. This is one of my first cards with alcohol inks . I used Ranger Adirondack alcohol inks & mixatives. By the way, I made a DIY alcohol blender by mixing surgical spirit with just few drops of glycerin. This seems to be working well for me. The inks are addictive to play with as the results are very unique each time and the process is super fun.

I die cut the butterflies from an alcohol ink panel. I tried a splatter of silver mixative on black card stock – I have to tell you, it felt good doing it (please note that the mixative takes quite some time to dry). I then adhered only the body of butterflies, leaving their wings free for dimension, before adding with foam tape the white heat embossed sentiment on match black card stock strips. To finish the card, I adhered the card panel at angle for added interest and just to try out something new.

Thank you for lifting me up

Picture1

Hi there ,

Today i am sharing an interactive gate fold card. Its about being thankful day and night – today and everyday for all the things both big and small in our lives that lift us up and cherish each and every moment of life. Living with the attitude of gratitude is the best way to lead a happy and contended life.

I am so thankful for everyone and everything in my life. I consider myself truly blessed for my family and friends. I am so very thankful for the loving crafting community for all the love and support that they provide. Thank you all for lifting me up and encouraging me to pursue my passion for crafting.

IMG-20171124-WA0023.jpg

Picture2.pngTo make with card i stamped the images from My Favorite things – Growing up stampset with memento black ink on neenah solar white card stock and colored those with my copic markers. I added the white highlights with a white gel pen. The images were then cut using the coordinating dies.

Then i made a white gate fold card base ready by scoring a 6 x 10 white cardstock from both edges.  Using the coordinating die for the image of the big hot air balloon, the window aligning both the folds was cut in such a way that it matched the placement of the hot air balloon in the center panel inside the card.

Next I took three white cardstock panels and die cut these with a stitched rectangle die. I inked the first panel to create a scene with a night sky by ink blending distress oxide inks and then adding white splatters with gesso. I cut this night sky panel to match the window and the gate fold cut on the card base and stuck it to the form the front of the cardbase after adding the sentiment and sticking the colored die cut images.

Picture3.pngIn the next step i ink blended some clouds with distress oxide ink on the remaining two panels to create a day scene. One of the panels was cut to match the inside of the window and the gate fold card base and stuck it on inside of both the folds of the card base. The remaining panel will form the center for the inside of the card. On this panel i first black heat embossed the sentiment and then die cut the gap for slider action. I then added the big hot air balloon in the slider panel in such a way that it fit the window that was already cut in the gate fold card and stuck this panel using foam tape. There are many tutorials online on assembling slider cards, you may want to check out those.

IMG-20171124-WA0022

Once the slider was working, I added the grass landscapes that i had made by die cutting ink blended pieces with different green distress oxide inks. To finish the card i added cute little images that i had colored and die cut earlier.

I am playing along with a couple of challenges with this card:

HLS Dies – Anything goes with dies – In addition to using dies for cutting the inking panels with a stitched edge, i have used the coordinating dies for cutting the images as well as the window in the gate card. The coordinating die was used to cut the window in the inked inside and outside panels on both sides. The grass landscape edges were also cut with the dies that add more interest to the scene. The interactive slider was also cut using a die. I really don’t think it would have been so easy to make this card without the dies.

Love is in the Air

The movie UP is one of my favorite movies /love stories. I love the soundtrack of the film as well. Here’s another entry for the aaacardchallenge inspired by the movie UP.

To make the clouds I first die cut a scrap card stock with cloud border die. Then using the die cut as a stencil, I softly blended the cloud pattern on a white card front.

For this card I used stamps and coordinating dies from lawnfawn bicycle built for you , lawnfawn Fairy Friends and MFT adorable elephant. I colored the balloons with water colors and the house with copic markers.

To finish the card I stuck all the elements on the card front and added the Sentiment.

I love how stamps from lawnfawn and mftstamps  go so well together. That’s another love story I guess.

Spreading My Wings

img_20170809_182747.jpg

” I’ll spread my wings, I’ll learn to fly

I’ll do what is takes to touch the sky”

This is one of the quotes that i like. There is something about this one that makes me work towards my goal and inspires me to follow my heart.

I am playing along with a couple of challenges :

The idea to be inspired by this quote is from Use your Stuff # 274 – Inspired by quote

The idea for the out door sky is from The paper players #356 – The Great Outdoors

The colors for this card are inspired by the Muse Cards #228 – Anita Bowden.

20170806_125502.jpg

I really loved the colors of the muse card against black. For my card I have actually flipped the color scheme.

and this card fits Moving Along With Times #51 – Things that fly

Actually just recently, My son and i were reading about migration and we were completely in awe of the various species that migrate such long distances. What an awesome phenomena. It was equally disturbing to learn how we humans hinder this natural process and are continuously encroaching / destroying different habitats. I guess that’s why Gandhiji said  that :

“The Earth has enough for every man’s needs, But not enough for every man’s greed”

Thanks for visiting and I love to hear your feedback, so please leave me a comment!

Have a great day!
